Course Information

This course will cover:

  • Review of basics: Good delivery, allocated and unallocated accounts, spot and forward prices, contango and backwardation, derivatives
  • Forwards: Physically settled and cash settled forwards, switching between fixed and floating prices
  • Forward swaps: Borrowing and lending on the swap, using forward swaps to adjust settlement dates
  • Leasing metal: How it works, lease rates, calculating interest in metal and cash
  • Options: Put and call options, and when to exercise them

PLUS: two interactive workshops to put what you’ve learnt into practice and network with other attendees.

This course is an ideal way to get up to speed if you:

  • Have good knowledge of precious metals through purchases, sales, and/or leasing – the course will help you understand how to use the main products traded in the market.
  • Have recently joined an LBMA Member organisation, or transferred to the precious metals area from another part of that organisation and/or would like to build on your knowledge from our first course.
  • Interact with the precious metals markets in any way and would like to understand more about how they work.
